REGIONAL RESEARCH PROJECTS

EADN funds regional research projects to provide comparative studies on various themes deemed both topical and of policy significance.

Social Impact of the Asian Financial Crisis:
This project was initiated in 1998 to jump-start the research activities of the newly-established EADN. The project was coordinated by Dr Chia Siow Yue of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (Singapore). There are 10 country studies. The research papers have been issued as EADN Working Papers. Indicators and Analyses of Vulnerabilities to Economic Crises:
This project was initiated in 2001 and coordinated by Dr Chalongphob Sussangkarn, of the Thailand Development Research Institute. There is an Overview study and 7 country studies. The research papers have been published by the Thailand Development Research Institute. The research papers are:

Income Distribution and Sustainable Development: The East Asian Experience:
This project was initiated in 2002 and coordinated by Dr Medhi Krongkaew of the School of Development Administration, National Institute of Development Administration (Thailand).
There is an Overview paper, a Conceptual and Methodology paper, and 8 country studies. These papers are being edited for book publication. The research papers are:

Urban Poverty and Social Safety Nets in East Asia:
This project was initiated in 2003 and being coordinated by Dr Zhang Yunling of the Institute of Asia Pacific Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (Beijing). An Interim Research Workshop was held in Beijing in April 2004. The research papers, yet to be finalised, are:
